Ear cropping is only done on young puppies so the ears can be set in the correct position. If your dog is older than 4 months, don't bother.
Cropping is either done by the breeder or a licensed veterinarian.

Snickers

The American Veterinary Medical Association has been asking Vets not to crop or dock for cosmetic reasons.

There is no reason to crop a dogs ears other than "fashion". The trend is toward dogs with natural ears. While it is not illegal in Florida yet, it may be before the end of the year. Do-it-yourself crop & dock is illegal in all US states.

Dieta

you should seek the opinion of a vet, look in the phone book.
Also like someone mentioned, it should be done when they are a puppy.
I don't know what type of dog it is as well, you don't say.
I wouldn't crop your dog's ears if the dog is already an adult. Ear cropping is for our fashion really, it will save your dog pain and you money to not crop his ears. Your dog will still be great just the way he is , floppy eared and all. woof
