We have a jack russell that has started chewing up anything he can get.
He does this anytime of the day or night, whether anyone is home or not. He has also begun stealing things off the table (food, pens, crayons, etc). The only thing that stops it is crating him, which I won't do 24/7. How can we stop this destructive behavior.

He needs a ton more exercise. Puppy proof the house and put things like pens, socks, crayons etc away where he can't get to them. Teach him to "leave it" as well as "drop it" or "trade" if he is possessive of the stuff he steals. You should just crate him while you are gone and not able to watch him. Give him stuff he can chew on like antlers or bullysticks. Show him what he CAN chew.
