Ginny

URGENT My Shih tzu is about to get birth, but I don't know if everything it's all right, help pls!

My shih tzu Ginny is about to get birth, today is 58 days of pregnancy. Since Monday I've taken her temperature and it's 99 degrees. I also noticed a water discharge since monday too. I thought it was urine but it isn't. It's clear, transparent and odorless. I freaked out because it's too much the amount of the dischrges (4 times approx). She has no contraccions (at least I don't see them), she was shivering yesterday a little bit but stopped it, she's not panting, looks normal, althought sometimes she's like tired.. what could that liquid be?? It's been 48 hours since she's having the discharges, her tammy looks big and i can see the babies moving.. PLease help me. I have a vet app in 2 hours, but still I need to know.. I love my baby and want everything to be alright. than u.

Two things:

1. Call your VET!!! He has years of experience and study and he knows what to do!!!
2. Spay your dog!!! Already too many homeless dogs out there.

You are not going to get any answers different then mine.

Dieta

I think if you are panic about this you need to take her to the vet. It is way too complicated at this point to help you online.
The vet can check her and find out if there is infection or some kind of problem.
If there is a problem then you are there at the vets and they can do a C section on her. If the dog does have a C section, you should let the vet spay her then. Good luck. Hope Ginny is ok.

♥ DEOGIE ♥

If that was my dog no appointment would be made, I'd be walking into the office the moment I suspected something was wrong.
Once this litter is ready for happy homes, tell Harry that Ginny is off limits...get them both fixed.
Hope all is well with Mom and pups.

Jazzy

A typical canine pregnancy is 63 days. 99 Degrees faranheit is a normal temperature for a dog. Normal range is 99 - 102.5. So there's no need to worry that your dog temperature is too high unless its higher than 102.5 and lower than 99. The clear, transparent discharge you see is her losing her mucous plug. This usually happens a week to a couple weeks before she starts whelping (aka giving birth). you'll notice her getting closer to whelping when she starts becoming restless and nesting. She may end up doing it in the closet or anything that represents a den. Just monitor your dog for any changes in her behaviour and also see what the vet says.
