Blood in the stool warrants a vet visit. Hope Casper is okay. He sure is cute!!!

Sounds like a vet visit ASAP to me as well... home dosing with human medicines is never a good idea, especially if you have no idea what you are treating!!! Has this pup been to the vets at all? Did he have a stool check for worms.

Blood like this is usually from a tear in the rectum or near that part of the anatomy.

Fresh, red blood that drips out like that is usually not as big of a deal as dried blood or blackened stools because it indicates that it's fresher blood from a cut or tear rather than internal bleeding.

BUT having said that, any time there is blood like this for more than just one time in a great, great while, you need to get the dog evaluated by a vet.

As for the antacids, it may or may not be related. I assume he has some kind of gastric issue for you to be giving him these to begin with. Simple diarrhea can cause blood like this.

But giving a dog antacids can be deadly, unless you know what you're doing or have been instructed by a vet to give a particular formulation and dosage. Make sure if you are doing this on your own, you stop until you get guidance from the vet.

And if you are doing it with the vet's help, ask at your appointment if he could be having a reaction to the antacids.
