Please help! We have a 1 1/2 year old lab mix who has been sick for a month.

We have brought her to the vet multiple times and spent almost $900 on medications and blood tests. The vet has changed her diet, thinking it is an allergy. She has been on a strict pork and sweet potato diet for 2 weeks now, but has not shown a change. Though she is still active, she is throwing up almost everyday. Sometimes it is empty-belly foam, other times it is her food. SHe is currently taking 2 meds to fight nausea and stimulate her appetite.. and is still vomiting! She originally had intermittent diarrhea, but that has stopped. Any ideas??

It could be an allergy to something in her food. You should change her food again, knowing that you may have to change several times before you find something that agrees with her. When you find the right one, you will notice a difference right away. We had to change Kali's food 4x before we found something she could eat. She was allergic to something in her food. She had the same symptoms as you describe along with lots of gas pains. We went from chicken to beef to turkey to lamb to fish. We figured she can't have anything with hooves or feathers. Try going to a completely different protein with less or no grain with less filler. Don't buy anything that's advertised on TV. Buy from a dog food specialty store. Right now we have her on California Natural Fish & Sweet Potatoes. It's cheaper than vet visits. You could also try going to the nutrition forum on this site. They have lots of good info there. Good Luck!

Snickers

So sorry she's not well.
Is there any chance she was exposed to anything toxic or poisonous. Ant or roach bait, lawn chemicals, has anyone either in your home or in near by homes used mouse poison (Decon/pellets).

Has the Vet checked to see if she swallowed something. A partial obstruction might cause diarrhea and/or vomiting.

(One of our Goldens swallowed a brillo pad and was sick like this for a couple of weeks til she managed to throw it up.)

Welcome to pawmail me if you like. Will think about more possibilities.

Buddy ~In Loving Memory~

Sounds like your dog has some kind of pancreas or digestive disease. This can be fatal. My dog, Buddy, also suffered for months, he was on meds, many diets and had many tests. Eventually we had to put hi to sleep because the stupid vet didn't diagnose him right. Turns out he had "Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency"(EPI)I am very, very worried about your dog. PLEASE PLEASE EMAIL ME SO WE CAN FIGURE THIS OUT. I will do some research in the meantime. It's daisyluv264@yahoo.com

I am praying for you.
