Our 8 month old lab wakes every morning at between 4:30 and 5 a.m. ready to start his day!
He is in his crate (goes in perfectly at night and sleeps through the night) but is awake every morning at 5 at the latest. He always needs to go out, which we do, but then we try to put him back in for an hour or so (we are early risers) and after a few minutes he starts "singing" and eventually barking. We've tried ignoring, tried "soothing" tried the blanket over the crate - nothing seems to work - help!

Since the only reason you should have "confined" him overnight is because he's not potty trained, and, he's just went out to potty, why put him back in the Crate at all ?
