Once a dog shows positive for tapeworms will it always show positive?

My dog had tapeworms from fleas and was treated. He is a visitation dog and the vet wrote on his last medical form that he had tapeworms/was successfully treated etc. Now the visitation group won't qualify the dog because he is 'positive' for tapeworms.

Q: Will the dog always show positive for tapeworms? Do I have to go to the visitation group and ask for clarification why the dog is not being accepted once a dog is treated?

I would do that armed with a notice from your vet. Interesting since tapeworms are one of the few worms that do not pose any health risk since they require a host to reproduce, so they are not "contagious."
When the worms have been treated they are gone and there is no "positive" left.
