my yorkie is nearly 4yrs old and overweight, the vet said she should be 5lbs but is 20lbs!!! yesterday while flying for

poppy is nearly 4yrs old she is a yorkshire terrier, she started to gain weight after being spade,took her to vet today and she 20lbs!Yesterday she hurt her back leg, the vet thinks she has torn a ligament or her knee has gone, im worried sick and need advice to help get her weight off, and help get leg better.

Eat less...move more!
Honestly..it is just like people. Up her exercise & lower her food intake. No more people food, no more treats, cut her meal portion by half. Add some no sodium green beans as filler to her food bowl. Don't expect any miracles. It took time to put weight on, it will take time to take it off.
BTW..spaying does not cause weight gain.

The reason people think spaying or neutering cause weight gain is that generally u do that when the puppy has or is about to stop growing and that's when u r suppose to feed less but people keep feeding the amount their growing puppy needed. There are many weight loss foods . U should feed half as much but if your dog is begging u can divide the food into more meals so she doesn't feel hungry.
