my shi-tzu has pink colored paws what causes this i have changed her dog food thinking she was allergic to it.any ideas

But you can see the effect in couple of days if the color changes then you can assume to be alergic !

She is not allergic. Molly does he exact same thing. I'm pretty sure that it's blood, not a break out. This is pretty uncommon breeds like shih tzus and pekingeses, more common in breeds like Dachshunds, bassets, and Chihuahuas, but she may have an overgrown dew claw. Check her claws. If one of the sharper claws (the dew claw) seems longer than the others, this is the case and the discoloration is blood from the dew claw. If she has an overgrown dew claw, take her to the vet or a groomer to have her dew claws clipped. Molly had to be sent to the vet a few weeks ago because of an overgrown dew claw. Hope this helps!
