Make sure that when someone comes over, they are ignoring your puppy. When someone pets the dog, or acknowledges the behavior, your puppy is going to think that this is what you must want! So he is going to always act excited because it gets him attention. When someone comes over, do you hold the puppy? Keep him on the ground, and tell your guest to ignore him. Don't look at him, don't say anything to him, and don't touch him. When the puppy realizes that no one is going to be paying attention to him when he is like this, he will settle on his own. The more you try to intervene and MAKE him try to calm down, the more he is going to fight it because he is unsure of what you want from him. You can tell him 'no' when he does get hyper around other people because you should be his leader, so it is okay for you to give him orders.
