To me, this sounds like pure excitement. She probably is old enough to realize that the car means she is going on an "adventure" and she gets excited.

Be sure that she gets enough air in the car, but that the windows are not rolled down enough for her to get her neck out. If a dog can get her neck out the window when she's as small as Diamond Princess, then she can easily manage to get her small puppy shoulders out of the window and you don't want that.

You may consider getting a doggie seatbelt, or harness which you can buy cheaply at any pet supply store.

This is the perfect age to start using something like this. It will give her some freedom to move around in the back seat, but not enough that she can get out of the window or hop into the front seat, causing an accident.
