This is so sad. Another reason WHY we need to spay and neuter our pets.
Many females are quite aggressive towards other females (even other family pets) while in heat, they view them as competition. Your labs main focus right now is becoming pregnant. It's what nature is telling her to do and she will do what she needs to in order to get that done. If your male dash isn't neutered and I can assume he isn't, the lab is viewing him as HER possible mate.
As domesticated as our pets are they still have animal instincts and what she is did is your fault for not having her spayed.

Fritz

Get them both fixed. Keep them separated, give both a lot of love and attention. It wasn’t their fault that you let this happen. Learn from your mistakes and don’t let it happen again.

Jet

PLEASE get them both fixed! I realize that since your lab is in heat, you can't get her fixed now most likely, but after she has her pups PLEASE get her fixed!

Lots of Licks,

Jet

This is sooo sad and frustrating, this was another preventable death. Responsible breeders would NEVER allow a female in heat, another female and a male together!!! Your lab is reacting to her hormones... she was viewing the other female as competition for her mate. NO female in heat should EVER be left with other dogs, particularly other females... we hear about this sort of thing happening all the time. If you do not have proper facilities for keeping a female in heat, GET HER SPAYED!!! And, get the male neutered...
Let me guess... you were going to call them labschunds, or maybe dachadors????

Dieta

You must spay the Lab. I would seperate her til she comes out of heat.
The most seemingly calm dogs can alter their emotions while in heat in a hurry.
It is the hormones, then when they come out they act sweet again.
Also, it is not uncommon for females to kill each other. That's why they should be fixed, all of them.
You should also never breed this lab that is extreme when they are to respect other playmates and your home. Get her spayed. Get her into a crate before she gets a notion about the other dog.

Pamela - Adopted!!!!

Good advise above - Spay or Neuter you animals. Somebody up there is trying to tell you something!!!!!!

Ignore Jet Black, who doesn't seem to know the difference between "in heat" and "pregnant". And for the record - Vets will spay a dog even if she might be pregnant.
