If a puppy bites you, you end all play and get up and walk away. You must completely ignore the puppy during this time... No talking, no looking, no interaction whatsoever. Puppy learns that when she bites in any form, play ends. Also, when she's old enough, try to get her in puppy class. Other dogs can teach our dogs things that we can never teach, and it's very important to have proper socialization.

Hi Koda, Just like you, I nipped and bit my humans' hands and heels - it's a herding behavior that is bred into us, but you need to learn that your humans are not your sheep! BOL! My trainer told my family to try this, and it worked GREAT: 1. When I bit them, they said, "uh-uh" (the "no" sound, only better than "no" because the sound is more interesting). 2. If I stopped, great! They praised me, gave me a chew toy, kept playing, etc. 3. If I kept nipping them, they quietly led me outside. 4. They calmly closed the door and left me outside. (If you don't have a back yard, use the laundry room or any boring place.) 5. After 5 minutes, they opened the door and I was thrilled to be back with them! It only took two days of this for me to learn that "uh-uh" meant "don't nip, or you'll be alone." Soon, I stopped whatever I was doing when I heard "uh-uh" - so they used it to teach me not to counter-surf, chew the sofa, dig in the trash, etc. All they have to do is say "uh-uh" and I stop!

you yelping is probaly going to make it worse. It is like prey yelling out. So, just get some toys geared for the breed. Such as the kong, they have from puppy to aggressive chewers the black one. Also try ice cubes for the teething months, it does help ALOT:) www.rayallen.com and k9elite.com sells some herding dog toys and equipment.
