My girl beagle is suddenly aggressive, why?

I have 2 beagles, one boy and one girl, both about 3 years old. Last week my husband deployed and the girl dog has become increasingly agressive both towards me and the other dog. I don't know if she is just upset that my husband is gone or if she could be sick and I dont know it. She freaks out when she goes to the vet so I hate to take her if she just needs some TLC at home. But how do I know if something is actually wrong with her?
