What does your veterinarian say about it?? Obviously, SOMETHING is wrong, it is not normal for ANY dog to be constantly itchy. You need to pursue this with your veterinarian for a proper diagnose... treating with something prescribed by an internet reader is not going to cure the condition as the condition is not identified and can certainly NOT be identified over the internet, even if we WERE veterinarians, which we are not. Covering up symptoms with anything NOT prescribed by the veterinarian is only going to make the condition worse AND more difficult to diagnose... please take him to your vet and find out WHAT is wrong. Your dog is obviously not comfortable if he is that itchy.

Libby

Sounds like allergies. I would take him to the vet. Being constantly itchy is pretty horrible, particularly when you itch so much your hair falls out.

Dieta

awww sorry Puff is so itchy. Have you looked through his fur? check for fleas, flea dirt, and ticks. Then if you can't find nothing, check with your vet.
Does your dog also eat any food that has grains? some pooches are allergic to grains in foods.
Fleas are pesky they can start a serious itch and some dogs like one of mine is allergic to flea bites, her skin itches then constantly and she gets that flea epidermis. Uggg. I hope you find out what is wrong with your fur baby.Maybe it's just something in the coat, maybe a gentle wash and blow will help.
good luck.

Zack

Zack is very itchy too. We went to the vet several times to figure out what was causing it and find a treatment that works.

It could be one of several parasites, a fungal or bacterial infection, allergies, or something else. A vet will need to examine him to make a diagnosis.

If he's scratching so much his hair is falling out, you need to see the vet. Excessive scratching/chewing like this can lead to secondary skin infections, which only makes the situation worse and may require antibiotics to clear.

Zack has extreme allergies (food and environmental). We have made a number of changes to avoid allergens, and he still requires allergy medication during certain parts of the year. But allergies may not be the problem with your dog.

itchiness could be any number of things my chihuahua gets extremely itchy from time to time and loses fur his skin also becomes very red and sometimes bleeds we found out it was something called "hot spots" they r very common with dogs that live in hot countries or dogs that have long and/or thick hair/wool it could be that either way you should take puff to a vet
