My dog Tara-Anne is afraid of the yard, noises, and at this point,I do not know what else.

When I got her as puppy she was a calm and stable puppy, and grew to a nice well adjusted adult dog. She was always an indoor dog with outdoor play time.
Tara-Anne moved here with my friends & their dogs. Now I have a dog who fears the yard and will do anything to get in,including ripping door jams off, ripping a gate to escape the yard and jumping through a window to get back inside the house, she fears being outside the yard and will do anything to not be out there.Loud noises also scare her; because of her destruction, they have threaten to chain her out there, the very place she fears. Something I wonder if they may have already done to her. The once sofa sitting girl is now so afraid of her own shadow. Tara has also many times just to eat ,eaten rocks, tin cans, grass, and foods that would normally kill any other dog, I left her sadly in not so good care and for this I am deeply troubled.....I thought they were better then this...anyhow, I need help...please.

So... it sounds like Tara-Anne never received exposure to the outdoors as a puppy, and now she's no longer living with the human she most loves and trusts, is this correct? Is there any way you can take her back? If not, it sounds like she needs a new home.

If this is impossible, you still need to take responsibility for her adjustment to where she's living. Her behavior is totally understandable, and it will take a lot of work to help her learn to relax outdoors. If she's never played outside, or taken a walk, or gone to the dog park, and is exhibiting pica (eating inedible things), she needs professional help. www.k9techsupport.com has an article on selecting a reputable trainer/behaviorist.

Forcing her to be where she's terrified is cruel and inhumane. I'm sorry; I'm trying to write this as kindly as I can, but it's frustrating to read about her current situation. Hire a reputable behaviorist who uses positive methods, and be very patient.

Something is seriously wrong. If she loved being outside before, and doesn't now, you can bet it's because something horrible happened out there. If they are tying her up out there, or what you may never know for sure, but she isn't happy or safe there, and you need to get her somewhere else. If it was my dog acting like that all of a sudden, you can bet that would be the last day my dog was in that house. Hopefully you can get her out of there soon, before it's to late. Good luck.
