For skunks..this is THE remedy
1 bottle hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
a small squirt of Dawn dishsoap
Mix in a non-metallic container. Apply to the dog..get it right to the skin. For the face, use an old rag & wipe but avoid the eyes! Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
I had to use 2 applications for dead, rotted fish. It might take 2 or 3 for roadkill. Let the dog dry completely after you do the first one. Wait & smell him before repeating. Sometimes the stank comes back when the dog gets wet, so a spritz of water & a sniff will tell you if he needs another application.
Don't forget to clean his collar!
