My dog knocked over a bicyclist by running up to her. What are my options? How do I keep it from happening again?
I opened the door and my dog pushed past me to go pee. She saw someone riding their bicycle and ran up to her, causing her to fall over. I got my dog in the house and checked on the lady. Scrapped elbow and knee...I offered ace bandage, ice pack, a chair...she wanted nothing but my name and number. I fixed her bicycle since the chain had knocked off the gear and she rode off. She said she was going to make a statement. I'm not sure what to do. My dog did not bite....in fact my dog ran back to me when the lady fell, wagging her tail the whole time [sigh]
I'm in Port Orange Fl, My dog is a female american pitt bull terrier. This is her first incident.

If this is a problem, i think i would keep the dog in a fenced yard in the back and not let the dog out the front door. I am sure the person will say your dog is aggressive so it is best to just take that chance away so it never happens again.

When you let her out, either hold her on a leash or let her out in a fenced in yard.

Your dog needs some training and you need to ensure this dog stays in the house, on a leash or confined to a fenced yard at ALL times.
Teach your dog the "wait" command, so she doesn't run through the door. Place a baby gate in the door frame until she learns this new command.
You are responsible for any and all injuries caused by your dog, even if it's a scrap.

I'm a bully lover and a bicyclist so I can see both points of view. The dog down the street terrifies me and I love dogs! He tries to bite tires and ankles so I can see how the bicyclist could have gotten upset but, it sounds like your pup was just excited and wanted attention! You should be extra careful now, since it sounds like she planned on reporting an incident. Be sure to keep her on a leash and contained in a fenced yard at all times so that you eliminate any more reported incidents.

my dog did this to another dog. I felt horrible. She rushed us too. I never dreamed it would happen.
The dog owner was po'ed. we got a verbal.
at the most you could get a ticket for dog at large. and you could be liable in small claims for her medical and bike broken.
My dog only did it once, but that was too many times. Accidents do happen. I understand , and you probably felt bad like me.
Our entire back yard is fenced and we own 1 acre. So I was upset my dog knocked me out of the way to be naughty.
You might have to make sure the dog is in her crate before opening the door or to make sure she is in another room before the door opens.
good luck.
