My dog is limping around the house, I found a small ulcer on his leg, and his nails could possibly be turning black.

A couple of days ago, I took my dog for a walk. He seemed to be perfectly fine before the walk but afterwards, he seemed to be limping on his back left leg. I waited a day to see if the limp would go away but it did not. Now a couple of days later, the limp has not gone away and I'm fearing that it may be something serious. I have checked his leg multiple time. He seems to be fine with me checking out his leg. He does not pull his leg back in pain or anything. The first couple of time, I saw nothing but yesterday, I noticed what looked like a small ulcer on the back side of his leg above his paw. I should also mention that I noticed that his nails are turning black (May be because of dirt building up on his nails but I'm not sure). Is there anything I can do to help my dog? Going to the vet is the best solution but we are not exactly financially stable at the moment. Are there any alternative solutions in the mean time?

There really isn't an alternative solution to vet care for this. Home remedies are less than useless if you don't have a real diagnosis. What can be helpful for one condition is harmful for another that superficially looks the same.

Good luck, just a checkup at the vet's is not expensive, you don't have to buy medication or say yes to treatment right away (though they often pressure people into it.) You want to get a real diagnosis as soon as possible if it's not going away.

You didn't mention where you had walked him but if he has injured his leg it could be that the 'ulcer' is in fact an injury and you should keep this clean and dry. You can clean this with hibiscrub or similar. It will be easy to determine whether or not the nails are turning black by cleaning them. Dogs have a high threshold of pain and sometimes it is difficult to tell whether they are in pain or not, however, if the lameness returns you should really take him to the vet.

Hope this helps.
