larger breeds of dog go into heat later than smaller breeds. My American Bulldog mix went into heat at 10 months and her sister at about 14 months. Though every dog is different just like us humans and our menstrual cycles.

Every dog is different, so this is probably fine. Also, larger dogs go into heat later than smaller dogs, my Chow/Shepard/Pitt mix didn't go into heat until 10 months.
