my 16 week old puppy just smelt another dogs poo can it get parvo from smelling poo?

Absolutely yes. If it has had several parvo shots, likely one took and he is protected.

I would rather trust www.avma.org than the wikipedia.

Is your dog up to date on vaccinations and did the other dog have parvo? If your pup has all her current vaccinations and if the other dog did not have parvo you should be fine. If your dog is not current on her vaccinations I would certainly make sure she gets a booster as soon as possible, like today if you can.

The virus is airborne. So, the answer would be yes.
but, alot of detail goes into the fact will your dog get it.
That is why you get vaccinations at intervals when they are pups. I don't go to any areas where there is fecal material and I go to very few public areas with pups. I would avoid those areas til you dog is vaccinated and also til the pup is much older.
Let me note also the poo would have to be infected with the virus also.
