My 12yr old pekigenes-mixed dog. He is very matted from staying with family for the laest 8 months.

I went to rub him and thought his ears were matted but upon rubbing realized his flaps have these flesh growths or masses all around the back of his ear flaps!! I never saw or felt anything like it before!! What to do? I really cant afford medical treatment since I lost my job.

sorry about losing your job, but unfortunately it sounds like the dog needs a vet. there isn't likely a way that anyone here (unless they were a vet) would know what was wrong... good luck getting an answer you need, but you can try to call the vet and see if they will talk to you over the phone without charging you and maybe give you some ideas. most likely though the pup needs the vet to see him to make sure it isn't anything serious.

Pepper

What he needs is a shave, which you can do yourself - even if it means sissors. Once you remove some hair you may find it's all just hair - no growths at all.

I wouldn't recommend you use scissors on your dog, especially when it's so hard with matts to know where the hair and skin are. Take your dog to a groomer and ask them to shave her, safest way for your dog.
Matts can sometimes feel like a growth, I think it's because the matts are right down to the skin. This is why shaving would be your best option.
Let the groomer know what your concerned about and they will let you know whether it is a matt.

Maybe this site can help you identify the warts or sores.
The dog could also have ear infections that have caused the sores also.
The best place to take her is to the vet not the groomer.
Any oozing is sign of infection to a much worse problem.
the vet can set up a flex plan for you I would try that first.
The only other thing is to surrender her so she can get help. I am not trying to be mean. I would try to borrow money or get a credit card. I know you don't need more debt but that way you can get her help faster.
