Is there a good web site for homade dog food?
With everything that has been going on with pet food, I would like to make my own. All the recipes I've found have been for soft food. I'd like to find a dry food recipe, not sure if it's even worth it, but I'd feel better, I do make their biscuits.

If there was a dry food recipe it would be a lot of work, if you are willing to put that much time into feeding your dog (and I think it's great that you are!) why not look into feeding a raw diet? It is GREAT for health and teeth, too! You can buy cheap meat in bulk and freeze it to keep the costs down, and many butchers will collect scraps for you if you ask them.
Look up information on the internet but don't get overwhelmed with all the ratios and specific ingredients that you "should" feed...I promise it is easy once you get the hang of it!

To my knowledge, you cannot make dry dog food at home.
You can make the homecooked diet, which is made up of cooked meat, or the raw diet, which is made up of raw meat. (I feed raw myself.)
You *have* to really do your research before feeding either diet, as both diets have guidelines.
There are many sites out there about both raw and the homecooked diet, but don't research on one site alone. You need to read many sites, books (if possible), and Dogster has forums for both raw and homecooked. There are knowledgeable members there who can help you.

It takes a lot of work to feed your dog homemade meals, but I found a few websites that you may want to look at:
www.auntjeni.com
www.ehow.com
www.i
www.isnare.com
Remember you can always buy kibble. It is easy and your dog will love it! Good luck.

It is very difficult to make a dry food since it must be dehydrated and will loose many of the nutrients. You might try adding fresh meat, cottage cheese or even a sardine in water to his food. Also try to choose the best kibble possible. Read the labels and stay away from kibble with by products and fillers such as corn. Although is is expensive, Ziwi Peak is a good option if you can find it. A good source for nutrition is Dr. Pitcarin's complete guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats. You should be able to find it at Barnes & Noble or Amazon. This will at least give you a start.
