Is it normal for a do to loose weight and not want to eat after heartworm procedure?

Not generally, no. Are you keeping your dog as inactive as possible?

I have seen MANY heartworm treatments where I work and I haven't seen dogs loose weight afterward. If he's not wanting to eat he needs to be seen by a vet.

about a year ago i found out my american bulldog had heartworm, i was so upset, as i had been treating for a year prior to the problem , we did the treatment, he took it like a trooper and actually within a couple of months had gained ten pounds back. he never lost his appetite, i would def have your dog checked just to be sure everything is good. have you had both parts of the treatment? or just the first dose? did he get sick at all?
