I want my babies to be the best they can be. Lots of questions.

Hello everyone, I have 3 pit bulls.
one blue nose male, 7 months, black fur with a brown tint, chest with little grey spots.
one red nose female, 5 months, golden fur, white patch on chest, and brown tip tail and her eyes have a hazel/green/yellow tint.
my new one is also going to be a female, blue nose they say she's a blue (coat) her parents and grand parents are registured and papered.
Question #1 is what is the exact name of breeds (concerning what kind of pit are they) so i can learn more about them.
#2 my male is said to be champion bloodline but the people who i bought him from tried to say the papers for way too much so is it possible to trace bloodlines in dogs
#3 my female is only 5 months yet spots when she pees, should i be concerned
#4 How can i train and raise them tobe the best pits they can be. (physical fitness, tempermant, being social with over dogs and ppl)
#5 should i get their ears cropped, if so will it hurt them.
#6 is declawing the only option

I will try to answer question two. If the dogs have been registered in AKC. You can get a copy of the family tree there. I dont think it is that high priced to get one. I dont remember the web sight but if your dog is registered, you can get a history also. I sent an email to a friend that has used it. If they reply back soon i will post it here later.

Its good that you want information about socializing your dogs, shows that you are a responsible owner. There are so many things you can do to get them accostumed to things and make sure that they grow up to be well balanced adults here is a check list of things you can get them comfortable with: k9domain.web.officelive.com

As for Cropping, thats only done for looks and quiet frankly many people like them uncropped better. Its actually very painful and if done incorrectly can be dangerous. No should ever declaw a dog, its not like declawing a cat its way different and its a major surgery, you should just clip their nails to avoid damage because of them.

I'm not quiet sure what you mean about "Spots" but you should know that some dogs don't gain full control of their bladder till about 8 months. Here more information about potty training: k9domain.web.officelive.com

Best of wishes!

Pippin CGC

Please go over to the Dogster Forums & then to the "Choosing The Right Breed" or "Health" forums...I am sure the good people there will be able to help you decide what to do!
Good luck!

Please do not get their ears cropped. There is zero reason to butcher their ears. Pits with their natural floppy ears are much softer looking. But with cropped ears it's a totally menacing look that actually will make me cross the street if I see someone walking it towards me. If you want to portray a specific image, do it without the dogs.
Now. I don't understand wanting to declaw a dog. Why in the world would this ever be an option for a dog? For the love of dog, get the thought of declawing your dog out of your head.
Leave their ears alone. Trust me. Your dogs don't want their ears chopped off. Nor their claws.?????
Use only positive reinforcement training when you start training them and if you hire a trainer, only use on that uses that.
Read a lot. Read as much as you can about the breed and good training.

You've gotten some great responses here. I just wanted to add my opinion to #s 5 and 6.

First, there's no reason to crop the ears. It is quite painful and it's not something that is necessary in any way.

Same with declawing. I'm not sure why you would even want to declaw a dog, but it's a practice that is actually illegal in some counties and townships in the US, so that gives you an idea of how bad it is to do this to a dog (or cat, for that matter.)

I commend you on your dedication to your dogs and I hope you get lots of information here on the forums. I think you'll benefit greatly from the knowledge and experience of fellow pit owners on Dogster.

Good luck!

Hurricane Jack

Everyone has already given you great answers, But Im just curious of why you got 3 pitbulls and dont really seem to know anything about them? No one should ever get any animal without serious research. And also I would like to know why you bought pits from a breeder when right now pitbulls are the main breed overcrowding shelters all across america?
