I have a poodle 3yrs and a bishon 6yrs, best friends. My sis is visiting w her little dog and they all get along.

Yesterday, the poodle attacked the bichon for no reason and had to be pried off. She was crated for several hours and within 10 minutes she attacked her again. She did break the skin on her neck. She has never done anything like this and she left my sisters dog alone. There have been a lot of people in the house and occasionally the poodle has been known to nip at people's ankles. We are very concerned for our bichon and don't want to get of the poolde, do have any advise? Thank you!!

In my years as a Behavioral Consultant, I have never seen a dog attack "for no reason". There is most likely something going on that is too subtle for you to see. Usually a confrontation like this begins with stares and posturing, or over a resource.

If the poodle has been known to nip at people's ankles, that was the first warning sign!

You would probably be best served by contacting a Behaviorist in your area. Until then, be sure to keep the dogs separated! If one of them is crated, be sure the crate is out of sight of the other dogs so it can relax while confined.

Please do not consider getting rid of your poodle, this problem can be handled!

Good luck!
