I have a male (10 months old) male who just found his hormones.I need help correcting his behavior with my female.

He is jumping her constantly. He is preoccupied and even having a difficult time training. Up until this, he has been a great dog, he's training for field trials and has alread participated in conformation shows, all under his best behavior. I always leave both of my dogs together when I'm at work, if this continues I won't be able to do that. Help!

shiloh Bear the Guest mentioned that this dog shows in Conformation, so he needs to be intact for that.

I would start with re-direction, and yes, separating when you are out - if you're not there to re-direct the behavior he's allowed to rehearse it over and over increasing the chances of him continuing to do it. When he 'jumps' your female (who I'm assuming is spayed) at home, distract him, maybe with a hand clap or tin can full of pennies, then re-direct him to something you want him to do instead, like grab a chew toy, or something like that. Basically give him an alternative to releasing that energy, and reward him for doing it. It will take a lot of consistency on your part but over time he should learn that when he gets the 'urge', to release it in a way that you deem appropriate and he gets rewarded for.

Don't even think of leaving an intact male and female alone when she comes in season. I promise you will end up with an unneed litter.
