Why must the dog stay outside????? Most sporting breeds, including and especially German Shorthairs, are bred to work closely with their owner and as such, are people dogs. They would much rather be with you than by themself outside, even if it just means lying on the floor watching while you work.
Make sure you provide plenty of exercise, running, swimming, retrieving, etc., with your dog as she most likely will be happiest to be with you instead of left alone outside.

Ditto.

Why bother owning a dog if you just want to ignore it in the yard?
