Does he dig out or does he go over the fence? Some dogs are escape artists. You can try an electric wire on the fence at the same height he breaks out. Like the wire they use on horse pastures. Is he an outside dog or inside dog? Try and teach him some commands like come, stay, wait, etc. don't leave him unsupervised outside. Give him things to do that will wear him out, like fetch. If he likes to escape I would never take him off the leash or a long lead. A tired dog is a good dog. Good luck with him.

I am having the same problem with my dogs. I am installing an electric fence in the next day or two, and I will let you know how it goes. My dogs climb over, dig under and break the fencing. The collar is not so bad, dogs learn quick and you can usually turn it off after they figure it out, then you don't have to worry about it. Invisible fences don't work for my dog though as she will run through it and then be too afraid to come home. There is a creek down the road that calls to her!
