Dogs always have a reason to bark, it may be out of separation anxiety, boredom, fear or attention seeking tendency, you need to find find out what is the reason behind his barking.You need to train him to listen to you, shouting while he is barking will not help neither comforting him on the same situation will. Calmly tell him to stop barking,train him to 'speak and be quiet'. You can also use corredtion collars but only if the situation is gets out of hand,discuss this problem with a vet
