I have 3 1/2 month old brother sister pair of bull terriers. They get into ferocious fights causing a trip to the vet Answers at Dogster Answers.

Bull terriers got the bull in their name because they were used for bull baiting, not for any reason having to do with their temperament. These are puppies, guys!!! Not even four months old yet! We are certainly NOT looking at a life long aggression problem!!! They need supervision, lots of activity and toys to stimulate their thought processes and learning and time out when if and when their interaction gets too rough. Most reputable breeders WILL NOT SELL two puppies from the same litter to the same person, whatever the breed. One of the reasons is because things like this happen. The pups grow up relating to each other and not to the humans in the family. It is MUCH easier for the humans to leave them together instead of spending quality time training and playing with just one which makes the issue even greater. When you have littermates and they have only each other they WILL fight...it is a fact of life and unless they are each offered time alone, it will get worse!

bull terriers have bull at the beginning of their names for a reason. i just had a discussion with someone last night about the same issue. there are lots of different ways to handle it depending on the situation. the separation if the start fighting i used with some of my dogs with similar issues. where people mess up is they always keep them seperated. then they never learn how to interact with eachother. you have to be ontop of it all the time and make sure they know your not going to allow the behavior. however, they are bull terriers so fights tend to happen. good luck

A soultion i have is to seperate them and when one of them show signs of aggresion pull them away until they can calm down and to avoid a fight. Bull terriers are kind of prone to aggresion ive seen/ heard of some bull terriers having this same exact problem infact my neighbor across the st has a bull terrier that does great with people but now so well with other dogs.
