I am looking for a PitBull or American Bulldog rescue in Georgia. Anyone have an organizations or websites?

I am planning on getting another Pit Bull or an American Bulldog. I have a Pit Bull mix at the moment and I have had an American Bulldog in the past and I know how to handle both of the dogs well with experience. I want to find a playmate for Shadow so I have been searching all over the web for Pit Bull rescues and American Bulldog rescue near my area in Marietta Georgia. Does anyone know of any organizations or websites? I appreciate all the help I can get!

Hi there, have you tried www.petfinder.com ? It was easy to do a search of adoptable pit bulls near Marietta, GA- thousands of them came up.

Most of them are not a Pit-specific rescues, but in municipal shelters (dog pounds) and all-breed rescue groups. Is it really important to you to adopt from a breed rescue group? The ones in the pound are in a lot more danger of being killed, and are less likely to be adopted, so if I want a pittie that's where I'd look

Here are some pit rescues though (yes, the links work- just mouseover to see the full text of the link):
Atlanta Underdog Initiative:
www.petfinder.com
Friends to the Forlorn:
www.petfinder.com

All-breed rescues in the Atlanta area have many pitbulls too. It's really NOT a difficult breed to find.

Have you checked on Google for Rescue sites in your area? We have an American Bulldog--- I am so glad you are looking for one! We rescued ours--- we were the 3rd home for him --and his FINAL! You might check 2nd Chance Dog Rescue---I foster for this organization here in San Diego CA (but they have other locations, too) occasionally and see American Bulldogs on their site sometimes... Good luck with your search!
