How to teach a 8 week old puppy to stop biting during play?

Jazzy is an 8 week old puppy and he bites really hard when he plays. He has plenty of chew toys. But i would like to teach him to quit play biting. Can anyone help me with this challenge?

This is a common problem with puppies. So common I left a Diary entry on Sonny's page telling how you can teach a puppy to lick and not to bite.

If you go to "Day 3" of Sonny's diary on his profile page and read about "EEPS and KISSES game".

He is a cute little puppy! can't wait to see how he grows!

The play biting is difficult because the puppy thinks that your own hands and fingers are for playing with! The key thing is to be a puppy. I know this may sound a little silly, but you'll need to yelp like a puppy would once he bites you. Puppies only understand each other. They don't understand humans and out language and ways of doing things. Jazzy will get that you are hurt, and he should stop.

If he does not stop the biting, get up and don't play with him for 5 minutes. Once you go back and he has calmed down, try playing with him again. Keep doing the method of yelping, but if it doesn't work, walk away again for 5 minutes.

Its normal for a puppy at this age to bite while playing. He'll understand soon enough that biting is a no-no.

Good luck! Jazzy sure is a cutie.
