When he pulls say 'Let's go' and turn and walk the other direction, when he pulls again repeat. Praise him for either walking beside you or just on a loose leash and eventually he should learn that he only gets where he wants to go by not pulling. You could also try just stopping whenever he pulls and wait for him to do something to slacken the leash (Preferably by taking a step or so towards you).
The use of head halters or easy walk harnesses are good tools you can use to aid in the process of training him but if you use them they preferrably aren't what you use to walk him all of the time because it's not truly fixing the problem. Training him not to pull on the leash could take a while so patience and consistency in training are key. Good luck with your doggy :)

I use these two tricks.
1. Stop immediately when the dog pulls. Make her sit. Then continue on the walk.

2. Snap the leash and say no pulling. I also use a regular leash not an expanding one. With a regular leash you can control the distance.
