How to determine cause of car sickness?

I have a 4 month old whippet mix who throws up either during or after some car rides. This doesn't happen every time she rides in the car and three of the times she was sick she had just gotten a puppy shot. However, the 4th time there was no reason I could think of. She didn't actually throw up in the car, but the second she got home she threw up. Sometimes she rides in the car just fine. She gets in and out of the car just fine on her own and sits in the back seat. She doesn't whine or otherwise show distress. I don't know if this is car sickness due to anxiety or actual motion sickness, or if there is some link to the memory of the effect of the shots. FYI: I drive a 2-door honda civic with limo tinting to the back 3 windows, so it is pretty dark back there. She is a rescue so I have no knowledge of if there could have been an early trauma in her life. She rides about 2-3/week for 5-20 mins at a time.

I would buy a crate for the back seat. I would think it might help her motion sickness. Try not to feed her prior to riding in car.
It is the best way to go if she is getting worked up. In time she should get better and more comfy in riding.
