How Often Should You Be Giving Your Dog A Bath?
I just got my new pomeranian, and so im kind of poking around wondering differnt things. One of the things im wondering is how often I should be giving the little guy a bath? every other day? once a week? Does anybody know?

Not sure about poms, but we give our Yorkies a bath about every two weeks. With some dogs, if you bath them too often it will dry their skin out. And it depends how much they play outside. ours go potty, and walks regularly, but now that the weather is nice, we also let them play outside more. We use the wipes you can buy to wipe them off when they come in, and of course brush them everyday.
This is just what we do, hopefully someone with pom experience can post what they do.
It really depends on you, your dog, and the environment. You have to take many things into consideration: does your dog get dirty, does your dog have dry skin, does your dog have a lot of hair, does your dog get that "doggie" smell, and many other things. With my Tiffy, she gets a bath when she gets dirty which is about twice a month. But she also doesn't get that "doggie" smell when wet or dirty, so she can go longer. It just depends.

It really depends on your dog.
A good rule of thumb is: if your dog looks dirty (dirt can be easily seen on the fur), smells dirty (that nasty dog smell) or feels dirty (when he's scratching or itching himself), then it's probably time for a bath.
Unlike people, dogs don't need to bathed frequently to stay clean. They do, however, need regular brushing (every other day or at least twice a week) to keep their coats nice and free from any loose dirt.
Every other day or weekly baths are much too frequent. When you wash a dog too frequently you can actually do more harm than good, because it can affect the natural oils their skin produces. If you have to bathe, I wouldn't give baths any more frequent than every other week unless there's a sound medical reason.
Always use dog shampoo for bathing, too, because it's formulated for the pH balance of their skin - people shampoo is not. (Though baby shampoo is okay, if it's pH neutral.)
