How long does can an open can of dog food last in if refrigerated?
I'm not trying to feed my dog ancient food, but it seems all to often half-full cans of dog food end up in the back of the fridge. I hate being wasteful so trying to get a decent benchmark of how long is too long for an open but covered can of dog food to be considered good.

I have a dog food can top cover. In the refrigerator with the top on, the food last a long time. You could get them at a pet store or a vet's office.

Actually you really shouldn't keep a can of any food in the fridge even tho they sell those plastic lids. Not safe.
At best, the food will probably last about 5 days after being open and put in a baggy or bowl in the fridge. Anytime longer than that would be taking a chance of souring.
If it's not eaten the next day, I'd toss it... but that's just me.
Ask your vet.

This depends a lot on the types of preservatives used in the food. If the food doesn't contain any artificial preservatives, it is typically recommended to store, tightly sealed, in the refrigerator for no more than 4 days. If the food contains artificial preservatives, it may last longer.
