How do I prevent my dog's scar from getting an infection?

While I was grooming his hair I accidentally cut his skin. :( It's not that big. I feel really sad and guilty about it and I am really scared it might get an infection because I don't have enough money to take him to the vet. He is a 2 year old cocker spaniel male dog. If anyone wants to see a picture of the scar I can just email it to you. Please help me I never meant to do this to my dog. :(

Don't beat yourself up over it. It happens and it's not like you did it on purpose. I clean things like that out with BandAid's Hurt Free Antiseptic Wash, then put some Neosporin on there with a qtip a could times a day. It'll be gone in a couple of days. No worries.

Keep it wiped out regularly so dirt and debris don't get caught in the skin as it is scabbing up. A great product to have on hand for the future is PETfection Paw Cream. It is 100% Organic and is excellent for healing up cuts, rashes and dry spots. For a cut like your dogs, it will help moisturize and keep it from getting too dried out. Plus it helps block out infections. I hope this helps!
