I have a puppy and a dog and the vet said they are both the perfect size my puppy is a yorki and my dog is a German shepherd and I feed them twice in the morning and at night.just entertain him so he won't have time to eat 3 times a day or if you are busy get him new toys

Um, just stop feeding him two of the meals, and increase the size of the remaining one? He will probably be upset and try to get you to feed him at the old times, but eventually he'll stop if you don't cave in. If he begs, totally ignore him until he calms down.

I am assuming though that your dog is an adult and that fewer meals would not cause him any problems. Young puppies (especially of small breeds) need to eat multiple small meals because of the risk of hypoglycemia (very low blood sugar) otherwise. I would not switch to one daily meal unless he is completely grown, at least one year old.

Though this doesn't apply to you, other people may be reading it so I'll say it... Don't feed giant-breed dogs only one meal daily because it may increase risk of bloat, a life-threatening condition.

I think going down from three meals a day to one is going to be a big change for the dog. I think the best thing to do is cut back to two meals a day. Go with that for a month or so, and then later you can go to one meal. Good luck
