You can add an oil to his food; the most popular is salmon oil, I use cold-pressed hemp oil, some people use flax oil. Most pet stores will sell salmon oil with directions on dosages.

I've heard raw eggs help as well, you can add a couple per week to his food.

Feed a decent chow and as little else as possible, seldom if ever bathe the dog, and brush it daily with a soft bristled brush. You might add a teaspoon a day of liquid cooking oil to its food.

DO NOT give it raw eggs. Some bad ideas never die, but dogs do.

Flea and tick shampoos are some of the harshest on the skin and coat. Its not surprising that your pup now has dry skin. Do not wash your dog more than 1x per month - and with a different shampoo next time.

Solutions: Salmon Oil (ideally cold-pressed), Sardine Oil, Hemp Oil, Flaxseed Oil, or a combination of the above (ie. Halo's Dream Coat or California Naturals Skin & Coat Supplement) will help. Also ensuring that your dog is on a great food with a fish, duck, or lamb base with no grains would be ideal.

Dieta

Medicated shampoos are very harsh to skin.
I would wait to wash again.
You can use a soft bristle brush to remove the flakes.
I would rinse him with water throughly a couple more times to remove any more shampoo or skin. Let him air dry.
You can follow up with flax seed oil or some conditioner, they used to sell Miracle coat conditoner, it is spray on one has tea tree oil in it. It is excellent, comes in Black bottle with kangaroo on it.

poor baby, it sucks when they have the itchies, it is hard for them to cope, they cannot scratch like we can. my hercules has horrible allergies, he has for years, we use benadryl for the actual allergy, but for the itchy dry irritated skin we use fish oil capsules daily, along with brewers yeast tablets, both are inexpensive and sold in most places that they have a pet section, i use walmart and feeders supply, but we also use pure cornstarch baby powder for the irriatation, it soothes the skin and is safe and wont harm them if they lick. it works fast and my hercules loves the attention of the rub he gets to get it down to the skin. it does make him sneeze at first, but he is grateful. on really bad days we use balmex diaper rash ointment directly on the skin. it is a quick fix also. good luck to you , and big doggie hugs to you and your doggie family!
