Hello Everyone...I'm Harley. I'm from South Philly...My mom has a question about my hurt paw (right back)..

a week ago, I was playing in the park with my friend Tanner and I got hurt. It must not have hurt when I did it because I never cried. My Mommy took me to the Vet on Sunday and he put me on pain meds...both Humans discussed that my paw was not swollen and the Vet said it was not broken...it is my back, right paw...the joint just by my pads..Anyway, i can sit on it, get up and down, even go to the bathroom but I AM STILL LIMPING. Does anyone know how long this will take to get better? when I don't think about it, i tend to put weight on it but later on it'll hurt a little bit more then usual. any suggestions? sould Mommy wrap it? Thanks!

I'd call the vet again and ask what to do.

It's very possible that he's had a sprain or a muscle injury. Somtimes, dogs feel pain near the "ankle" when an injury has occurred higher up the leg, or even near the rump. It's a tough call, but I'd encourage you to explore other possbilities with the vet, and possibly even get an x-ray in case something has been knocked out, even if it's not a break.

Injuries like this are unpredictable in terms of recovery. Sometimes, just a few days of keeping him off it as much as possible and he'll be as good as new...other times, a longer recovery needs to take place. It's very hard to tell, unfortunately.

I think if you can keep him quiet, he'll have less of a chance to reinjure it, but I'd be wanting to find out for sure what the actual injury is.

Good luck, hope he's better soon!
