Mr. Jake the Beagle

Dog vomits after eating. What do I feed him to settle his stomach?

My 3 year old beagle Jake apparently chocked on his rawhide then threw it up. But now two days later every time he eats he throws his food back up. I took him to the vet and an emergency clinic and they say its just his stomach hasn't settled and the food i'm feeding him is too heavy or too much.

So my question is: What do you feed a dog that's thrown up so that its not as heavy as commerical dog food?

** I feed him Authority Brand wet/dry food.

You can try some boiled boneless chicken breast and white rice. That's a bland diet that may help him. After two or three days of that, you can reintroduce his dog food back into his diet. If that doesn't help, I would take him back to the vet. Good Luck!

I agree with the idea of feeding them chicken and a bit of oatmeal and brown rice. it is kind of a bland dinner for the dog, but it should help to get them back to normal. I know that Nutro has a limited ingredient food that may be good to feed your dog until they get feeling better. The limited ingredient helps to cut down on things in the food that could cause upset stomach. Good luck
