Does my puppy have separation anxiety? Please help.
So I recently adopted a puppy about a month ago, we believe he is a Labrador bull mastiff mix. Anyways, he's always really good at nights (we won't crate him at nights), however during the day when I go to work it's terrible with having him go into his crate. He will willingly go in and out of his crate while I am home, but the second the door locks he freaks out and will bark, claw at it, bite etc. I've tried putting a blanket over the crate to calm him down, putting an old shirt of mine worked for my old dog but that made it so when I came home he would not let go of me. He recently has been finding ways out of his kennel even with padlocking all corners, I'm worried he might get stuck and choke himself if this continues. I am only gone for 7 hours a day and leave him with all his favorite toys, food and water, also generally my boyfriend is home so he's not crated for a long period of time. When he is out he gets plenty of attention and play time. Not sure what to do,any suggestions

You should try putting him in his crate for short periods of time and just walk out the door to get him use to being alone. You start with just putting him in and then walking out of just the room and back in about a minute later. You slowly just increase the time and he should adjust to it. I would also try putting a frozen Kong in there with him to keep him occupied.
