The brindle colour is very common in the bull mastiffs, and the boxy face is very similar to some of the other mastiff breeds. So that could very well be what your little guys in fact are. :-) Sure are cute!

He does have a mastiff look, perhaps mixed with a plott hound? The ears and face shape made me think hound.
