Does anyone have any experience with Cushing's Disease in their dog?
What type of testing can be done to check for Cushing's? Taz has several of the symptom..muscle weakness, excess drinking, excess urinating, excessive panting, coat in shambles and a distended belly ( also drippy nose but not sure if related). I have asked my vet about these issues but singly not combined. He recommended meds for arthritis, oil capsules for coat, said stress was causing hair loss and panting ( Taz had a spell of being deaf because of drops for ear infection). Now that I see all the symtoms combined I am wandering what they mean. Thank-You, Joy

I had Cushings and it wasn't diagnosed until too late. Here is an article about it. The ACTH test is very harsh if you already have Cushings
This article is about the tests they use to determine if your dog has it.

If Taz does have Cushings, this support group is an excellent resource:

Good luck to Taz!

There are definitely tests for Cushing and though it seems like he does have some of the symptoms, there are a few other things that can cause all of these symptoms, including things like metabolic disorders and even Addison's disease.
Now, I'm not saying Taz has any of these, just that unless you get him tested for something specific, it's ALL guesswork.
Having said that, there are treatments and care guidelines that can help reduce symptoms for most diseases that dogs have, so getting him diagnosed is the first step to getting him well or managing whatever condition he might have.
It's also possible that this cluster of symptoms is just that; an unrelated grouping of symptoms as you were treating them before.
The other thing that comes to mind is the meds he's on right now. Did any of the symptoms start or worsen in combination with anything new in his diet or medication? Side effects can take a while to show up, but ask your vet about med side effects, too.
Good luck!
