Does anyone has experience with canine affective Disorder in dogs? If so, how was your dog treated?

My female boxer loses her hair along her side every winter. When I google it there is a website that shows this is common in the midwest for female spayed boxers and bulldogs. I have been treating her this winter with Melatonin 3mg twice a day but she is still losing her hair. Does anyone have any recomendations?

I haven't heard of that. I will have to read about it.
How sure are you that is it? Has there ever been a skin scrape?
Sometimes mites have that type of effect on dogs.
Seek a second opinion in case they were wrong.

Humans with seasonal affective disorder can be effectively treated with a combo of melatonin & light therapy. Since you already have her on melatonin see if you can find a uv light source. The ones for people are about a square foot & you sit in front of it. It triggers a chemical reaction in the pineal gland. Perhaps ask a pharmacist in your area if they have any in stock. Place the light so it will shine directly on her for about 1 hr twice a day. Not sure if it will help a dog, but it does wonders for people...worth a shot.
