Does acupuncture work for dogs with severe separation anxiety?
My dog is 50lbs, a Dalmatian/Terrier mix who suffers from extreme separation anxiety. She tears up anything that is left out when I am not home with her and she is constantly by my side when I am home. My vet suggested acupuncture as an alternative treatment to medication but I am not sure if that will work and it is very expensive. Please provide me with any information you have regarding the effectiveness of acupuncture on dogs with severe separation anxiety. Thank you very much.

Acupuncture has an array of health benefits! I think it is worth trying. You can also try massage (when he is not scared and shaking, but relaxed and happy). And as the other post said, you can try the thunder shirt. You might also spray a Calming Spray on his bed, toys, etc. for when you are gone. The one I have used, PETfection Calming Spray has lavender in it to help calm and relax. I hope this gives you some ideas, good luck!
