Do you take your dogs and cats on vacation with you? If you do, can you give me a list of some places around Dallas,TX?

The places do not have to be too close. Please answer! I want to know how many people take their pets with them!

There is a ad in Cesar Millan's (The Dog Whisperer) magazine that says Best Westerns will take dogs if you're looking for a play to stay. I don't know if they have any in Dallas, but I would think you'd be able to find one some where in the area. They had a great article on 23 summer getaways (it's Vol 3, Issue 2 if anyone's interested), but when I looked none of them were for Texas, so that's the best I can do. I'd also try & call the chamber of commerce there & see what they can tell you or maybe they could tell you of a local dog assoc. & someone there could give you a heads up from a local, that might be even better!

The only place I've been in TX with dogs is Lake Texoma. It was fun, but we stayed with someone who owned their home. I'm sure some people offer rental places that allow pets.

You might look for outdoor-type activities or state/national parks - many of those places may have places to stay that allow pets. Check out cabin-type settings instead of hotels. Do you like camping or hiking? Those activities can be very pet-friendly.

Also look for restaurants with outdoor seating - some will allow you to bring your dog if you are eating outside.

When I go on vacation, if I am going to do a lot of activities that my dog can't do and he would be staying in a hotel room alone most of the time, I find it better to leave him at home with a dog sitter who will pay lots of attention to him and maintain his regular routine.
