do my 2 8 year old dogs know when i am having a seizure without training, just as life long family pets?

i started having stress/ anxiety seizure like episodes and wasnt aware of it. my 2 dogs that i have had their whole lives seem to know when i do have an episode. before i do. my male crawls up chest and pins me down while my female stands on the highest point of my body and stares at the door and growls . she then barks if she hears someone coming. it is always the same reaction. and it is easier to become aware of what is coming. but my question is do i need to have them cerified legally even at the ages of 8 years old and how do i do this? thanks for any advice...

Many dogs begin alerting on their own & sense something is going on that isn't normal. Dogs sense of smell is so much stronger than ours, & dogs can pick up on changes in our body chemistry before any human (even you) is aware any change is occuring. It is very likely that your family dogs ARE indeed alerting to seizure activity before the seizure occurs. This behavior must be shaped so that it becomes a trained and constant behavior. This means when your dogs alert to a seizure, after the episode you praise & treat them. A service dog must be trained to assist you (such as alerting)& also must be trained to behave in public with people, other dogs,& tolerate a place that may be stressful for the typical pet dog. If a service dog misbehaves, you can be asked to remove it. A poorly behaved Service dog makes it difficult for others with service dogs coming in after you. Service dogs do NOT have to be certified, however, please do your research.I recommend using 1 k9 only. Good luck!
