No, when washing a dog, you use shampoo. Not people shampoo, unless it's baby shampoo, as dogs have different PH level tolerance than people do.

You are better off not bathing puppies at all. I never do. A little time and a good brushing with a soft bristled brush every day will take care of most odor problems. You can't wash away the ammonia like smell to their breath.

No, you should not use regular soap to bath your puppy or dog. Generally most people over wash their dogs. Most breeds do not need to be washed very often, once a month or even once every few months is prefered for a lot of breeds.

Our groomer suggested regular Dawn dish detergent. It kills fleas like crazy and makes the dog smell better. If you don't bath your dog very often like once every 3 or 4 months this is good. Otherwise invest in some good dog shampoo/conditioner.
